Arm's AI Push and Revenue Forecast

Arm Holdings' CEO, Rene Haas, stated on September 16, 2026, that he feels more assured the company's new AI chip design can generate an ambitious $2 billion in revenue. This target comes from Arm's strategy to expand beyond its core CPU architecture licensing into custom chip designs tailored for artificial intelligence workloads. The shift positions Arm to capitalize on the increasing demand from major data center operators for specialized AI accelerators.

Haas made the comments during an interview with Jim Cramer on CNBC's "Mad Money," where he discussed the company's progress and market positioning within the AI sector. The CEO highlighted that Arm expects substantial interest from hyperscale cloud providers and other large data center players who are investing heavily in developing their own custom silicon for AI, moving away from off-the-shelf solutions.

Market Opportunity for Custom AI Silicon

The company's new AI chip aims to address a critical need among large technology firms: the ability to design proprietary chips that offer performance and power efficiency advantages over standard GPUs for specific AI tasks. By providing foundational designs and IP for these custom chips, Arm seeks to secure a more significant revenue stream from royalties on each chip produced, rather than just initial licensing fees.

The $2 billion revenue projection reflects Arm's confidence in its ability to penetrate this specialized segment of the AI hardware market. Haas noted that many data center giants are pursuing internal chip development to optimize their AI infrastructure and reduce reliance on external suppliers. Arm's offering positions it as a key enabler for this trend, potentially expanding its total addressable market within AI beyond its traditional mobile and embedded systems dominance.

This strategic direction could reshape Arm's financial profile, emphasizing higher-value, performance-driven royalty payments derived from AI infrastructure. The company aims to move up the value chain by offering more integrated and optimized solutions that cater directly to the complex requirements of modern AI computing.
